SEMINAR DESCRIPTIONS

SEMINAR 1: Business Seminar (Tom Matuska)

In this seminar Tom will be a interactive look to the business side of taxidermy.  He will help us to figure out what our hourly shop rates should be and how to work that into the pricing of your mounts.  He'll discuss great business fundamentals to help us all be successful.  Be sure to attend this one!

SEMINAR 2: Mounting a Standing Turkey (Steve Niehaus)

This year Steve is our judge for turkeys an has agreed to give a seminar also to help us understand these big clumsy birds.  He will come with a skin prepared, shows us how he wires them up, and how the finished product should look.

SEMINAR 3: Round Table

Everyone seems to like a round table discussion to bounce ideas off one another.  We will again have a little time designated to talk about any taxidermy related topic and see what we cam learn from our peers this year.

SEMINAR 4: Casting a Fish (Tim Perkins)

A seminar back by popular demand, Tim will walk everyone through the fish casting process.  This is one to see!

SEMINAR 5: Casting Mammal Feet (Mike Yeska)

After just completing parts 1-4 of the hands on seminar the past 2 years Yeska just didn't know what he would do at the show if he wasn't giving a seminar. In his seminar this year he is going to show how to take the foot of a skinned mammal and cast it so it can be attached to the form and you can create those competitiion quality feet. This is a must see for everyone! Thanks Mike! Everyone give him an "attaboy" when you see him!

KIDS SEMINAR 6: Painting a Wooden Wiggle Snake (Andy Jacobs)

In this seminar Andy will be buying plain wooden wiggle snakes and having each kid paint their own however they want.  We do need you to call so we know how many kids will be attending so we have enough supplies for them all.  Call Matt Tainter at (608) 606-3834 by the August 1st to reserve a spot.

SEMINAR 7: Open Mouth Whitetail (Mark Gonnering)

This is a very complicated seminar to give but mark has agreed to give it his best shot.  Mark will be demonstrating and explaining the concepts of an open mouth whitetail.  He is going to bring some of his molds that he has made to show what they are suposed to look like.  This is going to more of a Questoin and answer seminar because there isn't enough time in the weekend to demonstrate it all.  This will be a very informative seminar that you should see if you are thinking of taking that next step and opening the mouth of a deer.

SEMINAR 7: Painting Birds - Beaks and Feet (Mike Nakielski)

In this seminar Mikey is going to show how he goes about painting an artificial bill and feet of a duck and then he will go on to an upland bird and show his tips for painting the beak and feet of that also.  If there is time left he will try to answer any questions about bird taxidermy.
